Due to various difficulties caused by consecutive years of disastrous hurricanes these games were suspended. Plans are ongoing for future games.

September 24, 2005 Games

The 2005 Alabama Highland Games were once again held  on the beautiful grounds of the Alabama Shakespeare Festival in Montgomery AL. The weather was warm with a steady breeze as the outer edges of yet another hurricane approached landfall..

The 2005 honored was founding member and octogenarian John Lesenger. The local professional entertainment was excellent and provided a nice change of pace from "overseas" entertainers. Twenty six clans were represented and clan tent traffic and attendance was a little light due to the approaching hurricane (again). Five pipe bands, heavy athletics, and Highland Scottish Dancing, and a nice supply of vendors kept everyone as busy as they wanted to be.
