October 2008

Past President Kerry and his family hosted the ACS tent. The beautiful fall weather graced the attendees for these weekend games. The crowd was a little smaller than usual probably due to the price of gas and the economic slow down.  Clan MacGregor was the honored clan at the 35th annual games. Major Sir Malcolm MacGregor of MacGregor was the chief of the games. Sir Malcolm is married to Fiona Armstrong, a Scottish border TV personality, author, and architect of "The Reiver Trail" on the Scottish borders. Clan MacGregor graciously invited members of the Armstrong Clan Society to attend a welcoming BBQ for Sir Malcolm and Fiona after the games.

World class professional and amateur athletes competed and world records were attempted. These games are one of the largest in the southeast  US with over 100 Clans, and more than a dozen Scottish Societies staffing exhibits and tents. Impressive was over 30 Pipe and Drum bands with more than 450 pipers marching in the opening and closing ceremonies. A breathtaking experience is watching and listening to the mass bands perform.

October 2005

Past President Kerry and daughter Jennie once again hosted the ACS tent. The beautiful fall weather graced the large crowds for these weekend games. Clan Hamilton was the honored clan at the 33rd annual games, with Angus Douglas-Hamilton, 15th Duke of Hamilton as the honored guest. World class professional and amateur athletes competed and world records were tested. This event is one of the largest in the southeast with 104 Clans, 13 Scottish Societies manning tents. Impressive was the 38 Pipes and Drum bands with more than 500 pipers marching. The opening and closing ceremonies were breathtaking when the mass bands performed.
